- •Listing and ranking your top assumptions
- •Scope check: staying within responsible innovation guardrails
- •Setting measurable performance requirements and constraints
- •Mapping the operations concept: space to ground to end user
- •Creating a CONOPS (Concept of Operations) diagram
- •Identifying your top 10 mission-critical failure points
- •Data responsibility basics: what is collected and who can access it
- •Understanding orbit types: LEO, MEO, GEO, and HEO
- •Matching orbit choice to customer and coverage needs
- •Simple coverage and revisit modeling with key assumptions
- •Comparing trade-offs between orbit options

- •Creating a system block diagram (payload, spacecraft bus, ground)
- •First-pass mass, power, and data budgets
- •Identifying key design trade-offs and constraints
- •Balancing performance goals with realistic engineering limits
- •Documenting architecture decisions for your team and reviewers
- •Designing the space-to-user data path (downlink and processing)
- •Planning ground operations: staffing, monitoring, and anomaly response
- •Understanding ground segment cost drivers
- •Operations concept for running the mission week to week
- •Responsible communications: modeling only, no real-world interference
